Most everyone in the gas turbine industry knows you need an electrostatic separator to remove varnish particulates from turbine oil. Now they’re discovering that just removing particulates is not enough. Soluble varnish contaminants that pose no problem in a hot operating system can cause a multi-million dollar catastrophe when the oil cools down. And, as it is known, cooling happens routinely in the hydraulic systems of cycling and peaking turbines. If the turbine is in the midst of an outage, varnish problems can suddenly appear throughout the lube oil and hydraulic system.

EPT solves varnish problems with the Soluble Varnish Remover (SVR) 1200 system, which is a self-contained skid-mounted unit.  The SVR 1200 uses patent-pending Ion Charged Bonding (ICB) for turbine oil to remove virtually all soluble pre-varnish and varnish forming products without impacting the oil’s additive package.  The system is installed easily on all reservoirs and even more easily installed when purchased with an electrostatic contamination removal (ECR) unit.  Dramatic results will be observed two weeks or less!
